I've been into photography for as long as I can remember. I bought my first 'expensive' camera with money that I earned on my paper route in about 1990, a Pentax IQ Zoom 105. I later shot with a 35mm SLR, a Nikon 2020, which taught me the foundation of working with light that I still use today.

Like many others before me, I'm sure, I shot with various point-and-shoot digital cameras, but found the shutter lag limiting. For me, the last straw was trying to capture my girls riding the carousel at the Indianapolis Children's Museum, which was virtually impossible.

I considered both the Nikon system and the Canon system carefully. The Nikon system seemed to fit my hands and my needs better, so that's what I shoot now.
